Begesand®

BEGESAND® is a murine monoclonal IgG2b antibody against CD26 indicated as first-line treatment of acute Graft-versus-Host disease (aGvHD) of the skin in patients undergoing allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Its mode of action relies on its ability to block CD26 activity, mainly in activated lymphocytes; the neutralization of CD26 activity results in blocking T-cell expansion and consequently reduces the auto-immune response.

Acute Graft-versus-Host disease is a life-threatening disease caused by the reaction of the donor immune cells against the recipient’s tissue antigens (alloreaction) for which currently no first-line approved treatment exists. ADIENNE has completed phase II clinical development, confirming the efficacy and safety of BEGESAND® in the treatment of acute Graft-versus-Host Disease of the skin.

BEGESAND® has been granted Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) for the treatment of GvHD in the U.S., E.U. and Switzerland.
